Brake cable length issue

===========

I got the 15 window bus back from reconstructive surgery and I am in the process of getting all the mechanicals done.

I built a straight axle out of a '72 standard Beetle transaxle and it has Type 3 brakes. I have stock park brake cables for 60 to 63 bus (Part # 211

609 701E). When I have them in place, it seems tthat the cable is too short or the sheath is too long. Anybody know which park brake cable (Year and part #) will fit this instance? I am thinking 64-67?

My sheaths are already too long which makes the cable too short.

The bus will have to pass an out of Province, so the fix will have to give the visual illusion of stock and safe.

I found that by effectively decreasing the sheath length by feeding the sheath into the backing plate part way, it effectively lengthened the cable enough that it just fit.

I posted this quest on the Samba as well, but no response.

Someone on this continent must have figured out how to get park brakes to work on a lowered 61 bus.

Any help would be appreciated...
