camera recs & parts selling on ebay ?'s

Hi gang,

Yes it has been a long time since I was here but looks like you've gotten along well without me. Glad to see some other old-timers are still here and sad for the ones who aren't.

Rather than move all my various VW parts and pieces yet again (for the 4th time) I have decided to sell them off. Might even part with a Bug or two....(sniff)

Parts on ebay seem to sell better with pics, so I'm thinking about buying a camera(the ex got my old Pentax-the b&#$%)

Don't have a lot of money(she got most of that too!) but woud like some recommendations on digital cameras. Need something for taking pics of parts but now that I think about it, one good for other , everyday-type photography would be nice too, provided it's within my meager budget.

Also, are there any better places to sell VW-related parts than ebay and/or the swap meets?

Thank you all for your time, Snuffy

The Canon Powershot A80 is loved by many reviewers, and usually gets top honors in most of the comparisons its in. Its not crazy expensive, and a good solid 4 megapixel camera (you won't need anymore than that). That's my vote.

Greg, I have a HP Photo Smart 618 and I just love it. It takes great picts and is very easy to upload on the computer. I got it as a gift, so I'm really not sure the price but it was worth every dime. Easy to change out cards, and a really good zoom feature.

Funny you should ask. I have a wee bit of experience in photogoraphy. :) My mate, Molly, and I are going on a long vacation and the years haven't been kind to her eyes so she had to quit using her 35mm (Olympus Pen FT) and Pentax. I just bought her an Olympus Stylus 300. It's fairly weather proof, and small enough for the pocket and is surprisingly adequate. It does good close-ups, too. Highly recommended!

(Of course, I'm bringing my 'blad and folding 645 for my own use.)

Oh, and at Best Buy they had a deal: $79 for a 128mb memory card or $79 for the 256mb card. Duh! I got two of 'em. That's enough for 720 pictures at adequate resolution/compression.

..................The A80 is a great choice.

.........OneCall.com charges $339 for the A80. An alternate choice that is much more affordable is the A70 at $229. It has a 3.2 megapixel sensor and a

3x optical zoom lens. I've bought a couple of them for my two sons along with a Canon S50 for my daughter. Now I don't have to worry about them borrowing my Digital Rebel..........lol.

............Here's the link for the A70:
