Thanks, Cameron

I have a 1972 Bus that needs some transmission work.
Thanks, Cameron
I did a similar search a year or so ago, every lead I dug up led to a dead end.. mostly closed businesses. Dedicated acvw shops have gone extinct in the Chicago region.
I'm sure there's a good number of mechanics out there that still know acvw's well, but they work for more generic shops which makes finding them difficult.
If you do dig one up who's willing to take on acvw work, send along his name/phone number. ;)
I am sure Jeff (Battered Bugs) can deal with that Bus Transmission. He is far west though and I have only been to his shop once. Towing or getting out there and back is a TRIP! lol

In southeastern Wisconsin, not too far from Chicago there is Connie's Repair Service in Watertown. This guy's shop does high quality repair work on AC VWs. He recently had his beautiful '52 Split featured in the August issue of VWtrends. I met him at a VW show and photographed his Bug -- nice guy.
This place actually exists?
It's one of the ones I was trying to find, but the phone number I had was no good and when I tried to find the place, was unable to.
Drove up and down whatever road he was supposedly situated on three or four times and couldn't spot the place.
Are you Southside Dave? Chuck Harrison's friend?
Yep that is me.
Oh yeah he is there. His shop is a super large place and I was pleased to meet him. It is amazing that you go down his road, then take a right turn and then a quick left and the VWs jump out at ya! lol

Thought you might like to know that Chuck stopped by my place around Thanksgiving. He's looking good. Someday I'll hijack a ride when he passes through Chicago and maybe we all can hang out.
lol Sounds good!! I am sure a lot of his customers miss him in Chicago. ;-)
Really? He's been crippled so long I'd think they couldn't remember. I'm 'selling' him my big-ass and beautiful 4wd for scrap price to make up for all the work he did keeping my vehicles running when I was a starving freelancer.
