Cooling flaps - sell or trade

Couple years back I happened across a set of what I thought were type

1 cooling flaps along with a thermostat, spring, and thermostat bracket. I intended to use these in my 1600 dual port. Tonight, with the engine on the ground for some repairs I decided to try and fit the flaps..and they don't fit. The 'bar' between the two sets of flaps would essentially go right through the oil cooler, so I guess I bought the flaps and hardware for a non-doghouse engine.

Anyone want to trade these for a set of flaps for a doghouse style engine? Or, anyone want to take the whole arrangement off my hands for a 25 dollar bill plus shipping? That's what I paid when I picked them up.

You can see pictures of what I have here:

that linkage is for the non-doghouse as you suspected... you can modify the crossbar... If I have one I'd send it to ya so you can use them...

I actually fabricated that tie-bar the last 2 times I needed one. Once out of aluminum and once from a bit of steel scrap.

Well thank you for confirming my suspicions. It looks like I should be able to form something that would work out of a piece of thin strip steel, the question being what are the dimensions of the doghouse version of that linkage arm? Do you have a piece you could measure? I know the end-to-end length should be the same, but the part that 'pops out' where the spring hooks up, I don't know what dimension I should shoot for there. I'd prefer to copy the factory dimensions if I can get them.

Thanks...

Chris
