Have spent this afternoon struggling with the torx socket bolts on the CV joints on my 1978 Bay. I have a good quality torx bit but have stripped out the splined heads on the bolts.
I was lucky on the L/H as I managed to get out the gearbox side bolts and then simply whipped off the heads of the stripped bolts on the wheel side with my trusty angle grinder. Then pulled the drive shaft off the headless bolts. They were simply unwound by hand.
Unfortunately not so lucky R/H side as I stripped heads on both inner and outer CV joints. Which may preclude the grinder and pull off driveshaft method
Suggestions for tomorrow's joy at getting the little buggers out?
