Early VW Bug specific luggage question

I purchased a '63 Bug in Spring from the son of the original owner of the car as a restoration project for the summer. The car is done and ready to sell, but recently the PO mentioned that his dad still has a complete set of luggage that he purchased in the early 60's that was designed to fit in a VW Bug. There are two pieces that fit in the trunk and three pieces, consisting on on long one and two or maybe three shorter pieces that fit behind the rear seat. They are white with a brown checkerboard pattern and have leather trim on the corners. He is going to get these pieces for me, saying they should go with the car, so I guess I will hang onto the car until I get them. My question is has anyone out there seen such luggage before? Any info on it? What it is worth? Any info would be appreciated.

Hi Dan,

Yes, I have seen this luggage before. A fellow here in Atlanta has an original '64 with the luggage set. Not really sure what its worth, but I'm sure if they are in good shape, they would be of some value. Seems like the pieces were made to fit the front and rear luggage compartments.

Maybe somebody else can chime in with some more info...
