Today I finally finished the brakes on my '73. New shoes, hoses, cillinders and rear shocks too. Started last saterday and of course something(s) had to go wrong! Front went without a problem but the rear.... I snapped the rear bolds of the brake line.... 15.30u.... Quick some phone calls and at 18.00u and about
120km later I got my brake lines. Installed them, and I was about to close the drums when i noticed that the cup of the brake shoe retainer (?) was kaputt.... Still no finishing up.. On sunday I called a friend and he had some cups, so finally i could close the drums.I have a nice and shiny torque wrench to tighten the axel nut. Max torq is
760 Nm! But never used before. So when i set the Torq at 360Nm I found it very easy to click so I torqued it to 380Nm... easy :) But when I wanted to put in the cotter pin to secure the bold, the bold turned too far!! I had to release it a little to fit the cotter pin.Is this a problem? Do I need to torq it more? Any insights on this item are very welkom.
TIA Roger
