ok, so about 8 years ago is when I was bitten... The bug that did it to me is a
65 sedan, cream and white tu-tone...empi 5's, roof rack, stock 40 horse. It was a clean car...sounded sweet....and was solid (for an ohio bug?!)Well, lastnight, I was out with my girlfriend, ex girlfriend, whatever you may want to call her (shes the one I had wanted to trade for a screwdriver) when I saw a bug sitting forsale in a run down corner lot. SO I pull into the lot, and realised it was THE bug. Same condition, almost as solid, still wearing it's faded once silver Empi-5's. And...to top it off...the guy wants $1500 !
The only draw backs to the car I can see, or know of, are the lack of some engine tin, which is no big deal, I have all that stuff, but wonder how great the engine is ?
the other is the fact that I know the car was wrecked about 6 years ago...nothing major, just ditched in the snow. Since then it's had the front apron replaced, along with the hood....and the guy who owned it back then ( and still may ) worked at the VW parts house local to me....so I am certain it was correctly....but for some reason the hood won't line up with the front 1/4 right about the fender...I looked and looked and looked and cant figure out why. The hood is straight, and the whole front clip is straight....any ideas ? Could that just be the hinges maybe?
