FS: 1964 baja

Hi folks,

I'm moving to a type II and I've just ran out of room...

I have a 64 baja that I've owned for 5 years or so (I've never had it offroad) and am looking for an VW enthusiast to purchase. The purchaser would have to be relatively local (Longmont, Colorado) and, if someone from the board wants it, I will give them a good deal.

When I bought the baja, it has been a baja most of its life I would guess, it was rough. Still is kinda rough but is a running/driving/stopping vehicle. The engine is the standard 1600dp (longblock from Painters Grinding in Denver) with I would guess less than 10k on the motor (but, all motors were recently rebuilt are'nt they?). The purchaser can decide for themselves by listening to it run and/or compression check (you can use my tester), etc. Carb, starter, generator (12v motor) were all relatively new and work fine, distributor is an SVDA from John C (as were most of the parts). Newish shocks (kyb gas, kinda stiff but I like it that way...), spindles, tie rods things like that were new a couple years ago with little drive time. Has daily driver reliability and goes where you point it but does have issues... Lights, wipers, ignition all work well but there is no warning light/temp gauge hooked up... there are several gauges in the "custom" dash that work but are not hooked up... speedometer is hooked up. The transmission shifts fine annd doesn't pop out of gear but the shifter bushings need to be replaced... twos sets of rims/tires: wide 5, wide 5 set of 14" off a thing... one piece windows and all glass is good. Interior is "functional": no backseat, bench over battery/storage area; from seats are from a sirocco (sp?) a 1977 I think, has a full roll bar. Pans are typical for a car of this vintage... if you're interested you'll just have to see for yourself. Again, I am in Longmont, Colorado.... can look/drive most anytime (email me and I can give location, etc.). Max, you could pop up from the Springs and drive her home... looks similar to yours but mine is white. Someone from the board in a bang/bang deal (does have a clean CO title) and we're looking at $6-700.

Regrads, Jon

Sorry for the spelling mistakes... the "front" seats are from a Sirrocco... there are others but most will get the jist of things... my new keyboard is just to damn sensitive...

..actually they are likely from a *scirocco" I wouldn't have bothered with a correction if you weren't offering a correction yourself.

..Gareth (btw..sounds like a *great* deal...but far too far away)

Thanks, Jon. But I only need one Baja. :-)

I will, however, be in Boulder Saturday afternoon. If someone else is interested, I could swing over and scope it out, take some pictures and so forth.

Thank you Max, you're more than welcome to stop by...you're picture taking is generally very thorough; your web page(s) have helped me considerably in the past. I did scan some pictures in this morning (they are not that great but they are functional... kinda like the bug) and, if someone is interested, I can email them. I do not have ready access to a website I can post them to...

Why not just post the pics on The Samba along with all the contact info? Free, easy, and great exposure.
