FS in gainesville FL '66 Aztec GT w/veedub engine and pan...

this is NOT my car, and I only met seller once. car is near where I live. I believe it to be 'overpriced' or possibly 'vastly overpriced' and in 'rough' shape, but maybe you don't agree, don't care, or I could be wrong, or even _very_ wrong. my observations:

original fiberglass roof on both sides has been 'cut' for squred cornered 'tee tops' (apparently made/cut out from the original fixed-in-place roof panel). door openings permanently closed (somehow) and 'filled' (so they don't 'lift up' like I -think- they're supposed to, or even hinge from 'the correct place' any more, or hinge at ALL, to be accurate). didn't look into how these 'strange reconfigurations' of the roof and side doors were re-inforced to compensate (IF at ALL). interior carpets look amateur installed, not edge trimmed, falling out. no side windows of any sort or even 'tracks' for same. some body cracking (also at places other than @ original door seams). paint 'multi-layer' and poorly done, breaking off in various sized flakes, some right down to the original glass, it looks like. has engine (I think single port) on vee dub pan (yr unknown). original tilt-back (engine lid) seems working (only opened it part way). not sure if runs or not/didn't ask. no gauges in the dash, and the dashboard 'look' is "wires hanging out everywhere in a jumble". lots of 'air leaks' everywhere. looks like ride would be like 'riding outdoors' pretty much. at least one (maybe two?) huge holes (near pie plate sized) cut into rear lid for 'purpose unknown' as no item appears behind them. windshield intact, no cracks, but 'rubber sealed' (and maybe also puttied?) in place. seats are 'bare fiberglas' like found in run-down laundromats (maybe original like that? for all I know) guy's asking $2400. didn't see (or look for) windshield wipers-may or may NOT be there at ALL. not sure if he's firm or not (I wasn't interested/not enough to barter, not even close.) I was just a casual passerby, making a quick inquiry...

looks like to get in in order to drive car you either lift 'tee top' and climb over side and 'slide thru' where the side window would've been, OR you follow same procedure withOUT lifting the tee top first. that entry style 'not my scene' but you might 'dig it' or feel like converting it 'back to right again'

any interest, send me an email, but make SURE "aztec" is in your reply subject header...
