What years did some ghias have the tow hook at the rear bumper? George
If my memory serves me correctly, they stsrted putting tow hooks on in
71 on Beetles.................Therefore, I will bet the same is for KGs............................I'm betting and using memory here, so There may be flaws in my ................Ok,......My memory mostly.Remove "YOURPANTIES" to reply

My 73 has one, my 71 does not

Like I said, this is mostly betting and memory.
I feel like It's possible to have gotten a '71 thet was shy that feature very easily.................the tow hook being part of the bumper Bracket and all..............Lemme do some research,.............I'm still pretty sure they were part of the "new features" on the '71's
But you may be right about the KG.
...............Ok, I'm back from research , at home, I didn't have much luck on the web for KG's.
The info I have is out of a Chiltons manual, last print year was 73, copyright 71.............
In the model Identification sectionit says, under TYP 1 Identification
71 - SUPER BEETLE introduced; flow through ventilation; increased luggage space; towing eyes front and rear; Super beetle 3" longer. Normal Beetle continued...............Doesn;t seem to be vehicle specific, but leans toward Super Beetle only. I have had several 71's and all but one had the front and rear tow hooks. They were all Beetle and Super beetle. The one with no front tow hook might have had it when I bought the car, but a crushed the front bumper and pulled it and the bracket off, and do not remember whether it had the hook on front or not.
.....................more research revealed that everey time I found a parts supplier that had bumper brackets for a 71 KG they specified that the right rear had no tow hook...........indicating the left rear did have one.
Good luck folks. I just can't nail it down any better than that from my computer and manuals..............I spent quite a while online searching for this stuff too.
