modern ones are mostly the same 1.6 liter block, logitudinaly mounted, with a Magenti Marelli FI.

now.... the 1.6 liter engine in the Golf Format is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet... simple as hell, with electronic gas pedal, 100hp and decent mileage.

I don't think any Gol's have been fitted with aircooled engines for about 20 years!
