Golf 2000: light near locking knob always flashes after locked?

Hi,

I just bought a used Golf 2000. I got a problem since the second day. After I close the door and lock it, the light near the driver's door locking knob is always blinking. But I remember that it had only blinked for several minutes when I used it in the first day. I tried both key and remote control. Same problem.

Does the light refer to anti-theft alarm system? Is that normal? If not, Could you tell me how to adjust it?

Thank you for your kindness to share your experience.

....14oz hammer following 12oz beer should be all the adjustment the little light needs....now as for yourself, I'd reccomend reading comprehension classes...

James, I think what he means is that this is an Aircooled forum....meaning Beetles, Karman Ghias, and their other flat-4 brothers and sisters. Your Golf is watercooled.

However, I CAN answer your question, as I drive a 1998 GTI and a 2000 Jetta. The light you see is supposed to blink, it's a visual indicator for the alarm on your car, which is activated..........when you lock the doors! It's there to tell would-be thieves that your car has an alarm, and they should move on to other, non-VW targets. If it doesn't blink and the horn beep when you lock it, that usually means you haven't gotten one of the doors, the hood, or the hatch completely closed.

Thats the warning light for low blinker fluid. Ask the guys at your local auto store for more fluid.
