idler arm blues

Yesterday I posted a message about heating a bolt. Thanks for all the help guys, but unfortunately the nut snapped off with the idler arm shaft this morning. Probably I should have removed the tank, heat the nut etc, etc... but I had a big lever to put a lot of torque on that nut, so I went the easy way. It was the nut that holds the idler arm to the idler arm bracket (sorry for the previous steering box confusion), so I guess now I have to replace the shaft, right? ok so I went down to remove it and I realized that my dear PO had welded the bolts that hold the bracket, to the body! probably fearing that some evil doers would steal the idler arm bracket at night...... I'll post some pics with details tomorrow, but can anybody come with an solution more sofisticated than grinding those bolts?

thanks Ant

I was just thinking a grinder, then you go and mention it... Well... got nothin' to say then..

I cut up a motorcycle frame into 5 pieces in 3 minutes with one of those once. You gotta love the spark shower they make :)

When all else fails, get a bigger hammer is my motto. Unlike cutting hair or adding too much salt to soup, you can always replace your divits in metal with either welding, lead/solder, J.B. weld or even *gasp* Bondo.

But not near the gas tank, please!
