Idling cold/warm , update on engine problem.

Today i noticed that when the engine is cold, like in the morning, the idling will be ok, no problems. However, when the engine becomes warm, he will slow down and die. Then the only thing that keeps him going is high rpm (he dies even while driving when you drive slow) As i mentioned before, the sparkplugs fire all 4 and timing is ok. I start to have doubds if this is really a carb problem, please let me know before i buy a new carb for nothing.

The idle circuit is probably not working. What might be happening is that when the engine is cold, the choke is closed and the fast idle cam opens the throttle partially, idling the engine through the main circuit. After a minute or so, the choke is closed, and so does the throttle plate. Now the engine should work on the idle circuit, but for some reason it is blocked.

First check that the electromagnetic cut off valve clicks when the ignition switch is toggled on - off. If this is ok, remove the idle jet and clean it with pressurized air. If it still doesn't work, disassemble the carb, and clean all the passages with pressurised air. Then reassemble with new flanges and diaphragms. After reinstallation of the carb, follow the proper tunning procedure. You can find many webpages regarding troubleshooting / rebuilding / tunning the carb, if you enter the model of your carburator (30PICT or 34PICT etc) in yahoo search.
