This is an off-topic, but kinda close to VW topics.. :) ALPINE, car audio band, how do you pronouce it? the "PINE" section, is like "Pine" (the tree), or like "Pin" (like cushion pin)?

PIne as in tree is the only pronunciation I've ever heard in Australia.

Doesn't the word "pine" in Australia refer to the sensation you get when you drop the motor on your already sore toe? eg, "#$ %^&# %^*$ I'm in a lot of #$^^*&%^^#^%-#$ PINE!!!"

No, that would be the more correct in Norwegian, pine would be to torment.
Pine would more closely be translated to Pain, but as in inflicting it on someone. Another example: I have toothache = Jeg har tannpine.
