Newbie engine question...

I have been seeing explanations that go something like "1300cc built to

1600cc".

What exactly do they do to the 1300 to make it a 1600? Is it just a different crank for more throw? Is it just replaced pistons and cylinders? School me!

Bigger pistons and cylinders. 85.5mm piston makes a 1600 engine if you started with a 1300. The 1200 engines had a shorter stroke crank. (64mm as opposed to the 69mm in the bigger engines). The 1600 cylinders drop right into the case, but the 1300 cylinder heads need to be opened up for the larger diameter cylinders.

Or swapped for 1600 heads.
