Not getting gas after fuel line replacement

I replaced all the fuel lines on my 76 fuel injected beetle with 5/16 fuel injection hose, from the metal lines under the backseat forward. Now I can't get it to start. It was running fine earlier today, before the replacements. I took off the fuel hose at the T above the alternator while cranking the engine, and I wasn't getting any gas. I think I'm not getting any gas at all from the fuel pump. Could my fuel pump have gone bad, even though it was working such a short time ago? Or could their be blockage in the lines somehow? Does anybody have any ideas on how to get it started? It was running fine before the replacements, I just had a leaky hose. Any help would be much appreciated.

Could you have reversed the hoses? That would cause it.

See if the pump actually runs. You listen or hold the pump in your hand while a helper cranks the engine.

Pull the hose from the tank off the inlet to the filter just to see if you get fuel flowing by gravity.

I checked the fuel pump, it wasn't vibrating or anything when I turned the key. I also hooked a test lamp between the two connections on the test lamp and got no light when I cranked the starter. I then went back behind the back seat and tested the double relay as instructed by Bently. Terminals 85 and 88d had a dim light when the key was in the running position, and when the engine was cranked it became a pulsating dim light and the double relay was buzzing and vibrating. I then tested terminals 85 and 88b and got the same buzzing and no light. The whole relay test was really confusing to me, it's sure an expensive little part to replace. I am going to pull the line off at the inlet of the fuel filter just to make sure gas is flowing. It'd be nice if it was something so simple. Thanks for you help!

Definitely an elec problem. Since you were under the car, it's possible that the "trigger" lead for the double relay (86a) has developed a poor connection right at the starter solenoid. I would start there.

E-mail me if you still have trouble.
