Hi gang, Popping in from a long hiatus thanks to spammers 300+ messages a day coming through my posts to RAMVA! I don't have much time to post but I still lurk from time to time. We're having a baby! (It's our 1st!) We know it's going to be a boy and I need help with names. The middle will be James & the Last rhymes with Surburban. I Like Rollin, my other half likes Aden. I want your input. Yes, I'm serious. Nor-Cal Dave. The baby is due in February RAMVA is the 1st VW group to know. I've all ready tried Ivan, Gene, Dean & Joe.
Hmmm, totally serious? Well, I like Christian James, just rolls off of the tongue. Actually we named my son (9 months old now) Christian and people LOVE his name.
Short ago I read an article about people in the USA giving brand names to their sons, for example in the year 2002 there were about 300 kids named "Lexus", other common uncommon names were "Nivea", "Pepsi" and so on.....
UMMMMMM... a lot of those "brands" were named after people... I went to school with a Girl named Mercedes... Isn't Mercedes the name of the guy that inveted the cars daughter? What about Porsche? named after **cough** Mr. Ferdinand! And Volkswagen... well you have the cars... Golf named after "gulf wind" I believe... as well as Passat and Jetta and Quantum... named after winds. Ford, Named after Henry Ford perhaps?
I'm glad that some people are creative enough to name there kid something other than "bob" or "joe", John, bobby-jo rob, bill, sue, sarah etc. If we only had a handful of names to give out then everyone we know would have the same name! I've known people with the same name... i knew TWO Andrew Davenport's (different towns, approxamite same age) what's scary was how similar their signature's were... there was a guy I worked with, had the same name as some customer that came in. When I was in high school there was a girl in my class who had NEAR the same last name as me... mine beginning with a B and hers with a D... made it hard when someone called out "Lauren" and then had to specify to which one... and the names sound so similar... not to mention the other Lauren that was in our class :-/
Don't give your kid a joe shmoe name... my boss just had a kid, they named him Jacoby Seaver... good name I think!
That is kind of like what the hippies used to do when they had Woodstock babies. They would name their kids Summer or Peace etc. Now you have 33 year old people that still have those funky names. Bill Berckman
My wife teaches first grade and over the years she has had some children with truly bizarre names in her class. Off the top of my head, all I can think of right now is Miata and Millennium but there have been many others. She's asleep now or I'd ask her for more names.
