OT Tail Of The Dragon

There's a place in NC along a stretch of Hwy 129 called "Tail Of The Dragon." VERY popular place for motorcycles and high-performance cars to ride/drive along. 318 turns in 11 miles. I just went last Friday and now... I'M BACK!!!!!!!!! Wow, what a blast! Left peg feeler = GONE. Pipes on right side = in ROUGH shape. Did the Dragon 13 times total. Timed one of my runs. 17 minutes. :-D WHOO HOO! Got a buddy to follow along behind me and he video taped most of one of my rides. He gave me the SD card from his camera. Anyone know how to get the video off of it? It shows about a 900 MB .avi file... actually shows two of them with the exact same name... but when I drag and drop them over to my desktop it just sits there a while, then acts like it moved the .avi file over, but it shows as 0 bytes on the copy of it on my desktop. I gotta get this video off of the card!!! Wait until you see all of the sparks! WHOO HOO! I didn't know I had it in me to thrash the bike like I did! My rear tire is T.O.A.S.T. Here are some preview pics...(links below) Someone help me get this video off the card so I can share it with y'all! Two people told me Sunday that I was the fastest crusier bike they'd seen out there all day. YEEEEEEEE HAAAW!!!!!!! Had some sport bikes even have to pull over to get out of my way. WOW WHAT A RUSH!!!

Cool!

That SD card can be read out using one of those USB readers from Staples or CompUsa, i.e:

Hey shag - nice to hear you still having fun on two wheels !

I went out on mine tonight in the dark ! Wow ! It's so different. There you are 80-100 on a twisty road, no cats eyes, then all of a sudden there's a headge in you headlights and you cant see which way the road turns till the last minute ! What a rush !

Anyhow, If you manage to get the AVI onto your hard drive I have a converter that will change it to MP4.

Try Copy/Paste instead of drag and drop ?

converter that will change it to MP4.

Hey Rich, I'm a multimedia retard. If I convert it to MP4 will that compress it some? Hopefully a lot? It looks like it's over 900 MB on the flash card, but that might be just because the camera I have isn't reading it correctly? If I can get the .avi off of the card (gonna buy a SD card-reader tomorrow) then I'd like to find out about your converter program you have. Thanks.

Hi Shag - Nice pics by the way ! will be cool to see the VID.

MP4 is similr to mp3 for audio. MP4 is about 2Mb per minute for DVD quality. Less if you squish it some more.

The converter I have is for my phone from here

Looks like you have very little clearance for turning... you dont seem that leaned :)

Anyway, when I had my Suzuki I did some of those trails and it was always a BLAST... cool.

The cruiser bikes are wide and heavy for stability. The turning radius is just not available.

Just watch out for the Goldwings. Some of those guys get in a hurry.

Yes, some Goldwing riders used to be sport bike drivers and have not figured out how to slow down and not lean. :-)
