Good place to start here. It's possible, but as the costs started adding up, I had to abandon this idea, at least temporarily. :)

I hear ya. I'm getting one his 2270cc 'B' engines with his 'B' tranny coming next month... Not cheap. Well worth it, but the paint job is going to have to wait a while :)

I hope I get a free RAT T-shirt with the engine.

1800cc out of a 911? Ya mean a 914 don't ya? The 911 had a 6 cylinder --- much too large/heavy for a bug.

911 is what I was told, going to look at it in the morning. I'm thinking 914 also. What is it worth for a complete motor?

that is what I thought, but aren't they all 2.0l? sounds like some misinformation, so go in with both eyes open! later, dave Reminder........ Ask Jan. I think he stuck a Porche engine in *my* vert. Yes I said mine. He never signed a prenup! He's really good at doing instructional things.

Uhhh... that we can't help ya with. ;)

Damn Tim. Don't hold back now, tell me how you really feel about me. You know the only person I give instructionals to is Jan. Yanno, sometimes you gotta translate the directions from Finnish English. :)

.........................My feelings about you, Kidd, is that you're our only hope to get your husband a green card so that we can get him to work on our ACVW's.

................BTW.............Be sure to find a place for him that has a HUGE shop where he can work on at least a dozen bugs at a time so that his RAMVA buddies don't start getting irritable and impatient.

You guys he can handle getting irritable and impatient. Me on the other hand, well let's just say Jan learned a long time ago not to poke the bear.

I missed the original post but 1700, 1800, and 2000 4 cylinder motors only came in a 914-4 or a mid 70's bus. 912 motors were 1600cc in the early 60's models and 2000cc in the 1976(?) 912E. Just about any air cooled Porsche engine will bolt to a stock VW trans. You just need a special flywheel to adapt the two. Try Kennedy Engineered Products

But a stock bug trans will not hold up to a 911 motor's power you will need something beefier. I have 2 911 motors one of which I will put in my 66 bug (at least after I finish all my other project cars) :p.
