RAMVA advice, please

Hey folks, I am FINALLY going to be able to close on our new house (i.e. 3 CAR GARAGE!!!!!) so I need some help.

Things have moved around a bit and I am trying to find the EASIEST (and cheap) way to search the RAMVA archives for email threads discussing the best Garage Floor Paints.

If we had been able to close in early December I could have taken my time and painted it at a leasurely pace. Now, since I have started a MAJOR new project at work, I won't even have time to move, let alone stuff like garage paint.

So priorities are:

1) Durability. 2) Ease of installation. 3) Price. 4) Safety - I like the squeeky kind like at car dealers, but when wet it is hazardous, so the optional grit that can go into the paint would probably be smart for at least walkways... and to make that look good I guess I would have to have a straight demarkation.

The slab was poured in early September, so hopefully the moisure content isn't too high still. Tx has had had too wet a winter. Temperatures this week should be in the upper 50s or low 60s during the day.

I've never painted my garage floor, but in anticipation of doing so, these are some of the web sites I have saved. I got most of these from Google searching: "garage floor paint"

Q&A recommends a masonry stain rather than paint because stain allows moisture vapor to pass through it.

enter: 100110949 where it says "Enter Keyword or SKU" It's $26.98/gal.

This one is $450 for a 3 car garage (scroll to page bottom.) For this (and for any business that ships) shipping would include an extra charge for hazardous material transport. At the same site as above there's a Helpful Hints page

See the "PERFORM A MOISTURE TEST:" at the beginning of the page. I didn't come across any sites this time that mentioned grit, but I know when I saved these links to my browser 11 months ago there were sites that covered this topic.

Or, if you want someone to do it for you --

You can also try modular flooring, consisting of interlocking square tiles.

Thx. I will ponder these. I sort of wish my wife were on board so I could paint the entire garage floor at once... but will have to leave hers till later.

Most, if not all two-component floor paints should be able to give you what you want. Choose a light grey colour to reflect some light and making the location of small "Oops,fe*k" easier.

Apply when not to warm, and also get the mix right! If not it will harden to fast, leaving you with a sticky not so nice result.

Safety? Slippery? Learning curve and be responsible for ones own actions? :-]
