Stock up good so we know you are doing as best you can if we don't hear from you for a while. And anchor the Baja down! I'd hate to learn that it blew into one of your covenant-crazy neighbor's yards. :)

I'm frying up some chicken wings right now. Already made one HOT batch. The next batch I'm gonna brush some cider vinegar on them and then add some of that seasoning salt stuff that Jan sent me, and some black pepper. I figure I should cook now while I have power in case I lose power later. I'll have that dip and chips and hot wings and beer. Hmm... I wonder what Kim and the kids will eat. :-D

Update: Winds really picking up to spooky levels. Internet connection going up and down. Power fluctuating a lot now. Lost power about 7-8 times already for a few seconds at a time. Not pretty here.

He can't answer you right now cuz the hurricane just ripped his satellite dish off of his roof and tossed it in the Atlantic.

I deep fat fry mine in a "Fry Daddy" type of fryer. Yeah, I know it's hard to believe that I have a deep fat fryer, but I do. ;-) After I fry them I drain them on paper towels and then get a tupperware container with a lid and melt about a tablespoon of butter in it and add hot sauce. Today I used "Death" hot sauce, some Texas Pete, and a little bit of leftover "Extremely Hot Wing Sauce" sauce. Mix it together and then dump the wings into the container. Put the top on, shake it around a little bit, then dump it onto a serving plate. I did half of mine like that today. The other half I brushed with cider vinegar with a basting brush after draining them of grease on the paper towels, then added seasoning salt and freshly ground black pepper. Yum! I used to fry my wings in a pan before I got the fryer and they would turn out just as good. The deep fat fryer I have just makes it a little less of a hassle and needs less cleanup.

My laptop (that I'm typing on now) has a battery so it's stable. The computer that my web server on was bouncing up and down so much that I just turned it off for now. Every time the power flickers, the cable modem reboots so I get knocked offline for a couple of minutes, too.

Sitting here in Richmond eating chili and reading Ramva whilst the power keeps getting hit, about 12 times so far, but we do have power. And the generator is ready. Oh yeah, lots of beverage. Yeehaw!

It looks like we made it through the worst of it without a scrape. It should be pretty calm here within a couple of hours. We're still getting several gusts each minute, but no more than 30 mph or so I'd guess. Power and internet connection seem to have stabilized. Tomorrow should be business as usual.

Glad, you are surviving and ok. Now that your vast emergency=20 beer stock seems to have been for nothing, you could send it to me ;)

Indeed, or distribute it to all ramva subscribers. I too hope things didn't get too shaken up for the US East Coasters. If I'd managed to land that job at Red Hat, I'd be out there myself... *sighs*

Uh... What vast beer stock? (adjusting halo) *hic* How do you think I kept my nerves calm while a hurricane just ripped through here? *hic* ;-) Gary, you mean someone in this area is actually hiring? At least that much is a good sign. I hope.
