Re: Question re: Oil light on 74 Std. Bug

Sounds perfectly normal when driving in hot weather. What oil viscosity are you using? A thinner multi-weight (10/40) may keep the oil pressure up, and the light off.

I run that in my Bug here in the desert (115+) and never see the oil light come on when the engine's running.

We run it with 10W/40... So now I'm a bit concerned that your light doesn't come on and our's does.... Would it be possible that if we had too much oil in it AND it was a hot day that the extra oil in it (another story....) could be adding to the problem?

Though - how does that work, I would think that a thinner oil, when heated would only get thinner and would make the oil pressure go DOWN

- but it seems to be the opposite.

Thanks for the >Sounds perfectly normal when driving in hot weather. What oil viscosity are
