Re: World's longest engine install

I've ran it to that same problem Chris working on a chop top 57 on a

73 pan, no washers on front mount and grinding the rear to the top of the bolts. be happy you also wasn't fighting with putting a 1600 into an early body.

Its an every day thing for me to deal with aftermarket parts, some I refuse to use and will find another source others just take a little modification, but its all worth it in the end.

Maybe you can notify the supplier so they can tell others that they sell the mounts to.

I can remember having the same troubles as far back as 15 or more years ago... the only ones I never had to grind the excess bolt off of were the red urethane mounts... but I don't really care for those.

I had a 74 years back and can't recall whether I had the same problem with the nosecone mount or not... I did go to solid mounts(fabricated my own after ordering some aftermarket "solid" mounts... they were solid sheetmetal, but poorly stamped..) shortly after on that car.

seeing progress helps! Last saturday we were having a birthday party for my son and I needed to move my vehicles to make room for guests to park. I started the Ghia (was about 30F outside) and walked away to move my Mazda. Ghia was sitting there idling and just died. Didn't fizzle out or anything, sounded like someone cut the key off. Condensor crapped out. I replaced the condensor, but that means it's time for a pertronix for it. Always something with these old cars, that's probably why I've kept messing with them for all this time. sometimes I confuse frustration with passion...

I did, I put a 1600 dual port into a 1964, and I used all of the tinware for the 1600 and the early style engine compartment seal...it was a tight squeeze, had to put the engine in without the heater boxes as they would hit the forward firewall. It was a lot of work, but when it was done it sure looked nice.

Yeah I intend to give them a call and let them know.
