Up here we have the same with Polacks, Lituanians, people from Estland etc. They are not so called refugees though, only here to work, some more or less on a permanent basis bringing their families...
All because Norwegians are so rich they do not want their type of work(Construction, painting etc), and the before mentioned are so desperate for money they work for hardly nothing. It is refered to as Social Dumping. A lott live under horrible conditions while they are here.

same here PJ... well except for the not wanting the work... contractors love to hire immigrants (both legal and illegal) due to their willingness to work very cheaply.. they can do this due to, as you mentioned in your post, living in what most consider "horrible" conditions... manytimes there are litterally a dozen adults sharing a small appartment/flat.... keeps the cost of living really low per adult,a nd they don't mind... many times the legal immigrants actually live off the wellfare system and qualify for low income housing and that makes it just that much better for them on a per person basis.(cost of living per person).... not many of the immigrants have not moved into my field doing finish trimwork, carpentry, and some general contracting.... but i could see my finish trimwork being swallowed up as they become more skilled and focused.... so the contractors can save a few bucks...
