Removing EGR on FI Bug

The system probably doesn't work. If I remove it and plug up all the openings will there be any consequences on engine performance or operation?

.............The EGR was removed by the PO of my '77 bug with L-Jetronic FI. Without running it before and after removal myself, all I can say is that my FI works very well. I'm guessing that it would be a little richer in mixture without the EGR which is a good idea on these systems. I may be wrong about the EGR's effect on this system with and without because the CHT is what tells the the ECU to lean out out after warm up.....I think. If yours isn't working and you're happy with the system as is, it probably won't matter too much what you do.
