Still need: 40hp oil piston ring

So, for those of you that responded to my last post, sorry I haven't gotten back to you... I have further specifics about my request, so please please respond again if you can help and i'm sorry I didn't get back to you before..

What I need is not just a single oil pressure piston ring for a 40hp engine, it has to be the kind that is all one piece that has slots in the middle and a spring running through it. This is the kind that is on all the other pistons. The sets i've seen at every shop i've checked are the kind that have a metal ring that is all jagged all the way around and its held in place by two thin rings above and below it. This, so I hear, is not acceptable to put on one piston and have the other kind on the rest. So, does anyone have a good 40hp oil pressure piston ring that is of the former type? Please let me know.

Thank you. Keith

You want the older style 2-piece oil ring instead of the more modern

3-piece one. I don't know of any reason why you should not mix them in an engine. The old style probably weighs a tiny bit more, but I doubt that's enough to matter as you're allowed 10 grams difference in an engine. If you wanted to be extra careful, just weigh all your pistons and use the lighter ring to help bring all your pistons into closer balance.

OTOH, I might have an old NOS ring if you really need it.
