the equivalent of a 009 in a Peugeot...

In case you are missing me, its because I traded my bug for an automatic, airconditioned, 1992 Peugeot when Sonia took back her Golf as she got maternity leave :)

I bought Casimiro (the 405) as a fixer upper. I already fixed most of its problems, including rebulding the transmission with the aid of a hired extra hand (I hired the mecanic that works for the local ZF dealer and we fixed the tranny at his place after hours, that meant

22:00 to 03am one day :)

I;ve been 2 weeks now struggling to get the low and middle end of Casimiros power back. It has a nasty hesitation just off idle but good power once rpms get over 2000. Just like you say a 009 behaves in a bug...

So, using RAMVA's experience, I got the vacumm hose off the carb and sucked. Encountering resistance, but getting no advance, I figured out the distributor must be gummed up and not advancing...

It was not gummed up. The vacumm diafragmn was broken, and a bearing ball was embedded in the hose to make it look like it was hooked up and working....

gr.... pictures, in case you want to see, no pictures of the distributor itself though... will take those tomorrow when replacing the advance :)
