vw beetle dies on acceleration

Really should say what year and whether it has all stock components, such as distributor.

In general terms, I would first look at the spray from the accelerator pump dischg nozzle as you manually open the throttle.

But it could be weak spark, timing/advance, vac leaks, etc.

...you say you have installed a carb kit. Have you visually verified that when the throttle arm is actuated a nice clean stream of gas is coming out of the accellerator pump nozzle and going unobstructedly down the throat of the carb? What distributor do you have? Is it advancing correctly?

Check spark intensity and whether the manifold heat is working. After a drive around the block, the 2 ends of the manifold preheat pipe must be hot. If only one end is hot, it's not working.

Thanks to all who replied

Year 64' Carbie = Pict 28 Timing set to 7.5deg BTDC Vacum works well as seen by using a timing light. Points gap set to .040mm

Looks like plenty of fuel spurting out. Still cant work it out.

Thanks anyway.
