VW Bug License plate help

I just got a brand new 2007 VW Beetle and I have no idea how to put on the license plate. There's two holes that don't match up with the plate holes and the car came with a black plastic thing but I don't know how to install it either. Any help??

Explaination:

Before you get a vicious flaming from someone...........this NG is dedicated to aircooled VW's...ie.-classic beetles, kombis, squarebacks, etc. Your vehicle is a new water-cooled beetle so there is another group just for these types of cars.

Nonetheless, my wife has a 2006 Beetle convertable so I might be able to help you anyway. I did not experience any problems installing my plates. They just slipped right into the black plastic holder and screwed right in. I'm sure that if you are having this much difficulty, your dealer would gladly give you a hand. Don't mess with it too much yourself...you might wind up scratching the paint or something.

2007 fake VW Beetle (aka Golf in nostalgic clothing). My kids won't even count them when playing "slug bug". Andy

Thank you. I'm new to VW ownership, so thanks for the heads up.

Be careful. Someone in the watercooled group might suggest: "Epoxy it to your bumper and use four wood screws and washers for good measure."

Cheers, and good luck with the answer

I was thinking couple of big nails would do it.

that's overkill for sure.... just two of those wood screws would suffice.

Use screws long enough to reach the radiator.. :)
