I had a '71 1800E (no P that year) and sold it in '81 for more than I paid for it new ($5,000). I had the rocker panels repaired. They had rusted out. I went to a restoration shop that used all metal. When people came to look at it, they used magnets I had to verify that it had no body putty. They were impressed. I had people come to PA from as far away as New England. It finally sold to a guy that lives about 40 miles away and wanted a second one for his wife. The restoration shop had buffed up the original paint and it looked real good. The only thing that looked bad was the leather seats. They get crazed and the plastic beads on the sides get worn. I interchanged the passenger and drivers seats so that the wear would be toward the inside where it wouldn't show. It is a great vehicle but turns like a truck when you are parking it. No power assist on the steering and the quick turn ration make turning when moving very slow very hard. That is the only drawback. Also, the fuel injectors leaked gas on the engine. It took quite a while to come up with a fix that would prevent this.

There is one on ebay that is going for $4,000 currently. It erroneously says 6 cyl.; the photos show it is a stock 4. Also it needs a lot of body restoration. Also, the engine is filthy. It hasn't been cleaned up at all for the sale.

It is at:
