Be prepared for a shock. The price of used Volvos, especially from that era, has dropped like a stone in the last few years. Try to sell it to someone looking specifically for a 240, for a wife or kid. I was lucky to get $1495 for our maintained '88 a few weeks ago. If I were you I'd start at $2495, but quickly go to $1900. Make sure it's nice and shiny..

With only 81K on it though? If that car is as nice as it sounds, it should fetch quite a premium. There's a lot of average 240s out there, but really nice ones are scarce as hen's teeth.

If it's in mint condition, maybe. If it's just low mileage, in very good condition, then $2500 *is* quite a premium for a

240, these days...

I didn't see a price quoted at all, I agree though that $2500 would have to be an exceptional example though I still see some late model 240s fetching more here, they're still in high demand and supplies are shrinking.

Post a detailed ad on craigslist.com, and also on the free IPD classified site.

Include several photos.

Run the craigslist ad in Vermont as well as Mass; lots of old hippies up there who understand and appreciate what you have.
