1996 Volvo 850 Fuel tank recall.

This is from NHTSA site. Problem is that it covers only some states, but we up north also have hot summers. Maybe the problem is common to all 1996 Volvos 850 but Volvo (Ford) is playing it down.

I replaced the fuel tank, pump and sending unit on my '94 855t in November of 03, just 8 months before the campaign. It was replaced for that very reason: seepage and strong leak. I know this campaign relates to the 96, but they are the same car. What rights do I have, and do you think there is any way I can recoup all or some of my 1,100 repair bill?

I believe that applies to all years of the 850 for cars that are registered, or originally sold in "hot" (i.e. southern) states. If yours was changed for a leak around the heat shield bolts, then you should be able to get a refund.
