Hi:

1) I had earlier posted a problem that the check engine light had suddnly come up... Thanks to the readers of this forum, some suggested that I should check the gas cap. The gas cap was indeed loose and I had tightened it... The light stayed on for a few days (about 7 days, I think) and now it's gone . Seems like for good, because I have driven about 200 miles after it was turned off. Don't know if that was really the problem.. I hope it was the gas cap and I am glad I did not take it to the shop. So thanks to Michael Pardee (and some others also), who gave a correct diagnosis.. Here is the excerpt from Michael's mail: " The question is "why did the light come on?" The answer requires an OBDII scanner to read the codes. In the meantime, make sure the gas cap is tight. Loose gas caps probably account for more than half of all "check engine" light episodes. If the cap is loose, even a little bit, the light will stay on for several days of driving after you tighten it. " How much more accurate can one get it?

!!!! THANKS MICHAEL..!!!!

2) My car has very close to 90k miles on it, now the SERVICE light got turned on. When I start the car, it turns on and stays for about 1 mile of drive, then it turns off . The owner's manual indicates that it's normal since my car is approaching 90K miles. I called a Volvo Dealer and another Europian Auto specialist. Both of them are quoting close to $800.00 for pretty similar services (some of which I don't need, such as Tire rotation, Oil change, Air Filter etc.. I have brand new tires and recently change oil and air filter.). Here is the question: Is $700.00 fare? If not what should be a fare charge for this service?

Thanks in advance for responding..
