760 GLE Volvo Please Help

I have a 760 Volvo GLE. 1989 / 90 Right Hand Drive England. The problem is I cannot find the On Board Computer for the ABS Brakes. Bosch

2E. You see the ABS light will not come on until I Move forward, It should come on when Ignition is turned for 10 Secs then go out. But after moving forward say 5 Yards it comes on and stays on. I have changed the 2 Wheel sensors as only ABS on the front. But the problem is still with me. I have had into a Volvo dealer and he cannot find it either, Unless it is hidden. Tried Under Glove compartment, Under Driver and the boot. No such luck! Can anyone place me to sight that deals in Old Volvo's 760 GLE Electrical lay out. Many thanks for taking the time to read this. Yours in hope Phil. City of Preston, England.

I have a 87 760 US spec. On my car, the ABS computer is in the trunk (boot) in the right hand wheelwell

You are lucky - I have a '96 UK 940 with ABS, no light at all, no box I can find but passes MOT ok !

On later ones the computer was moved under the hood. On my friend's 88 764T this is right up on the left-hand side near where the Turbo ICU or EGR stuff would be on a 240.

If I remember correctly the ABS control unit is under the dash on the driver's side (LHD of course) on a bracket with 2 relays clipped to it. Can't your dealer read the trouble codes?

And I don't know why I missed it the first time, but no Volvo has had ABS only on the front. The ABS shares the speed pickup in the differential with the speedometer.

Don't forget that the rear sensor is the speedo sensor, the wiring splits at the A-post with under bonnet ABS units such as yours. ABS works on front wheels independently and rear wheels together all at same time. Your ABS CU is on driver's side on mounting tray under dash near steering column mounted with the ABS relay which has a fuse attached to it's case. If you access the VOC forums on their website you can pose your question there and get an answer. It is possible that the fuse may have blown due to water ingress.

Cheers, Peter.

Then you have a problem. All Volvo ABS has been on all 4 wheels.
