850 blower motor

Few days ago my heater blower stopped working on my 93 850GLT. It was making some rattling noise, than it stopped. It worked again a day later, then finally stopped.

I removed knee bolster (although being a bit nervous since I saw yellow SRS sticker warning). Then I removed glove box to get access to it, however I was not able to take out the blower motor from the housing. There are numerous wires ( at least 4 connectors) connected to the blower housing and I wasn't sure if I suppose to remove those as well, to be able to replace the blower. I was able to remove 4 screws on the blower housing but stopped there since so much wires were on the way and was afraid of start pulling wires from connectors on the blower housing.

Could someone please shed some light on how to get the blower motor out and if I have to remove the wiring how to do so easily.

Thanks for any suggestions. D

I did that, breaking away just enough plastic to get oil to the bearings, and reinstalled the blower. It's been about a year, with no problems.

Thank your for all suggestions - great posts and links.Thank you all. I am going to try to get a used one first, just in case the existing one cannot be fixed once I get it out.

Just wandering if there is a way to check if it is just the motor or could be something else that triggered this. Could the codes still show something even though check engine light never came on.

Thanks

The Check Engine will not come on for a climate control fault. You did not state if you have ECC or manual if ECC the rec& ac lights will flash indicating a fault code in the system if manual nothing to flash as there is no electronic parts other than the blower motor & the blower resistor

This part may also be interchangeable with another car's blower. When I replaced the motor in my 760 (which looks surprisingly similar to the 850's) I was able to find that earlier models of Chevy Cavalier had the exact same motor, right down to the electrical connectors and bolt-hole patterns. I was able to get a brand new one from a jobber for about $30 (compared to the outrageous price Volvo wanted.

Once you get it out try to get as many numbers as possible off it and start searching. I'll bet a Delco will do the trick.

Good luck, blurp

not thought them great; and yet so clearly that we easily see what He thought of them. This clearness, joined to this simplicity, is wonderful.

798. The style of the gospel is admirable in so many ways, and among the rest in hurling no invectives against the persecutors and enemies of Jesus Christ. For there is no such invective in any of the historians against Judas, Pilate, or any of the Jews.

If this moderation of the writers of the Gospels had been assumed, as well as many other traits of so beautiful a character, and they had only assumed it to attract notice, even if they had not dared to draw attention to it themselves, they would not have failed to secure friends who would have made such remarks to their advantage. But as they acted thus without pretence and from wholly disinterested motives, they did not point it out to any one; and I believe that many such facts have not been noticed till now, which is evidence of the natural disinterestedness with which the thing has been done.

800. Who has taught the evangelists the qualities of a perfectly heroic soul, that they paint it so perfectly in Jesus Christ? Why do they make Him weak in His agony? Do they not know how to paint a resolute death? Yes, for the same Saint Luke paints the death of Saint Stephen as braver than that of Jesus Christ.

They make Him, therefore, capable of fear, before the necessity of dying has come, and then altogether brave.

But when they make Him so troubled, it is when He afflicts Himself; and when men afflict Him, He is altogether strong.
