89-780 Won't start/turn-over - Sometimes??

This morning when I tried to start it, I heard a click in the engine compartment and everything went electrically dead.

A few minutes later, the electrics were back. Everything, radio, lights, heater motor worked. I turned the key to start and everything went dead, again.

I came home from work, to work on 'my baby', Same thing, Try to start it and killed the electrical system. No bad fuses!

10 minutes later it started and is still running fine.

Where should I start to trouble shoot this?

Looks like I will have to drive my 765 and the wifey is back in the Ford 'til I find what is up.

I know, I know, I am usually come around when I have problems. But as always, THANKS!

Bill, You may have a bad connection at the battery terminals or such or possibly even a bad battery. Herman '83 282 formerly 242 Turbo Intercooled. p.s. Just sell me the car!!!;-)

Thanks Herman, I am go na go over all those connections, today. Actually a nice day here in Wisconsin to take off work and play with the 780. Well, all I can say is, I wish anyone who wanted a 780T, could have one. I surely love mine! It was a very lucky day for me when I responded to a newspaper ad for an old used Volvo. A long story I posted last September, 02. I will post the results. I put a new battery in a couple of months ago. If it is the started motor, looks like is not a easy fix.

When you check over your connection, don;t forget the earth connection between the engine and the body.

You were right Herman

Bad contact at new battery posts. I should have put the new battery in myself. The kid at Batteries Plus said that he did it 'all the time'.

I enjoyed a nice long weekend, fixing my 780 ;-)
