Hi! My ABS system on 240 '93 doesn't work and the light, on the panel, is on. Can it depend from the relay?
Thanks, Andrea

I Don't know specifically about the 240, but ABS systems normally put the light on when the startup test fails. This is often due to a faulty wheel sensor.

probably not. it is a complex system w/ soooo many little 17 yo parts. i don't need/like ABS, but i can also double clutch.
have you changed any of the tyres? different size tyres will report different wheel speeds. ABS hates that.
how do you know that the ABS doesn't work? did you lock up the wheels & skid? don't do that!!
The tyres are all new and of the same dimension (one month of life and good brand Fulda). I changed the front brake disk only (3 months ago) Maybe the wheel sensor I'm sure that the system doesn't work because if I push the brake pedal heavy I don't feel the vibration from the brake pedal.
more ?s when did the warning light start coming on? after the brake renewal? after the new tyres? does it come on @ start-up or after a few miles? what do you mean by "vibration"? ABS systems used to pulse. however, some brands of brake pads vibrate to let you know that they are @ the end of their service life. it probably is a wheel sensor or more likely the connection

After both...tyres (one month ago) and brake disks (3 moth ago). But It happened four days ago. Excuse me...pulse not vibration. I'm italian.
The brake pads are new I changed it with the brake disk. During next days I try to check the sensors on the brakes zone.
when people work on cars, they will sometimes knock electrical connections loose. the chronology makes that less likely. so a wheel sensor. you can do an electrical diagnostic in place. get the specs from a Volvo dealer. why don't you have Pirelli's? (while i'm @ it do you know who Bertrand Russell is?)

I know him a little (philosopher is right?)
I buy tyres on line from Germany. Are cheaper and the brand isn't a problem for me (Pirelli, Toyo, Fulda, it's the same). Last year I bought chinese winter tyres. Not bad.
By the way thanks for your answers
Bertrand Russell wrote a long & very funny paper about why 17 is the perfect random number.
chinese products only seem cheaper. in the long run they never are.
I solved the problem! Two days ago the tachimeter doesn't working. So I checked the sensor placed on the rear gear box and one wire was interrupted. Restored it all working normally...ABS too.
