CD Player

I recently purchased a 1994 850 Turbo and so far I'm really enjoying driving it. One owner since new, 105,000 miles, full service records for $4,500 so I think I got a reasonable deal.

Yesterday the CD player stopped working and shows "E-02". I went to the trunk and checked that the CD cassette was properly seated in the unit and that the door was closed fully. Everything seems to be okay. Cassette ejects okay when I press the button. The radio is working fine.

Any suggestions on what the code "E-02" is supposed to be telling me.

Thanks

My 97 850 also has a CD player problem. Mine shows "E-01". So while you're telling Mike Bird what E-02 is, could you tell me what E-01 is supposed to mean.

TIA

Found the problem to be with disk number 2 (cassette holds 6) which was stuck in the right hand side of the cd player. Managed to retrieve the disk from the player with a little fiddling around etc.

The cd disk stuck in the player was one of the new Celine Dion cd's that have the anti copy software written onto the disk and I have the feeling that the 9 year old cd player could not read the disk properly. I could be wrong but this was the only reason that I could see that could accpint for the problem. I have played the cd player for most of today and the older cd's had no problem at all and the player functioned trouble free.

Hope you sort out your problem.

Celine Dion !!!!! That name is an error code in itself. I use it to test microphones.........

Hmmm.

Guess I'll have to check and see if disk number 1 is stuck in mine. Thanks. I'll try it.

Hello All,

I have a 96 855 Turbo with the all-in-one stereo (premium) system. I love it....good sound quality, etc. Bass could be better, however. Anyway, here's my question, I rarely see these units come up for sale on eBay or elsewhere...are they THAT reliable?

Does anyone know who manufactured the in-dash head units?

Finally, does anyone know of any GOOD repair facilities for these OEM head units?

Many thanks, P.D.

ps. please reply directly to the "group"
