Fuel injector leaking, or O-ring? 240 non T

I have an '86 240 wagon. On top of the engine, apparently where the injector (screws?) into the cylinder head there is a recessed area in which I have a puddle of gas. This is the second from the firewall and all the others are dry. I spoke with a mechanic and he said it could be either an O-ring or the injector itself. He tried to explain to me how to deal with it but I can't believe the fuel distribution rail just snaps onto the injectors?? I have seen burnt up Volvos on the side of the road more than once, maybe this is why??

Can someone please enlighten me as the procedure for determining if the leak is the O-ring or the injector and how to remove and replace the appropriate part(s).

The fuel rail just snaps on, there's little clips to hold it, and the rail is bolted to the manifold which holds everything in place, this is how virtually all fuel injected cars are setup. There's an O ring at the fuel rail, very easy to replace.

Remove the electrical connections from the injectors. Unbolt the injector rail from the manifold. Carefully pull all 4 injectors out of the manifold, complete with injector rail. Be careful because you leave the hoses connected. You may find it easier if you remove the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator. Slide the clip off the leaky injector and pull it out of the rail. Replace the oring, and put the clip back on. Replace all 4 orings at the manifold end of the injectors. If it still leaks, you need a new injector.
