lambda light is on O2 light

Need some experience on this one. The lambda light went on on my 240 polar B200 F on a trip.

370.000 Km. 1992. Its a bi fuel one , on petrol it won't run ok , on lpg seems ok. On petrol it oscillates heavy( idle) running very rough. It starts always on petrol (difficult) and switches to LPG. looks ok.

Is the lambda sonde going out slowly or do these things pop out of service in one go? No i have not checked for broken cables yet.

any comments.

Here's a very simple possibility. Is the petrol contaminated with water?

no , the light went on on a trip running on lpg and it stays on . There is something quite wrong in the o2 system. hans.

What fuel system does the car have? I've never seen a bi-fuel Volvo but I seem to recall they usually cut power to the fuel injection and use a carburetor of sorts for the LPG. If the lambda light is on only when using the gasoline injection the problem could be any of the usual suspects, air mass meter, dirty wiring connections, O2 sensor, etc.

The lambda light is always on,no matter the choice of fuel type. BUT on LPG it runs ok,usual milage , natural sounds. When i switch to ordinary petrol it won't run idle, there is a big problem here.

Again i was wondering for ideas and experience so i won't have to discover the wheel again.

broken / or bad cables is obvious but didn't have a chance to look.

If the lambda light is on, there'll be a trouble code stored. It's pointless to speculate until you get the code.
