Rust control in Toronto

Hi folks,

Just wondering if anyone has experience/opinions on rust control outlets in the Toronto area? I'm considering either Rust Check or Krown Rust Control. It will be applied to my '88 244. I've heard Rust Check may attack rubber hoses and gaskets. Is this true and will Krown do the same? Does anyone have recommendations for one or the other, or another form of Rust protection? Also, if I was to go with Krown or Rust Check, does anyone recommend any certain locations in the city? I hear they vary in their application (from clean to sloppy) from place to place as they're mostly independently operated. Any locations that I should avoid?

Thanks! Clayton.

Clayton, your Volvo comes with rust prevention so this may actually be counter-productive.

Check out your local dealer first to see what shape your own rust-proofing is in, then go from there.

The customer help line should also be a source of information if you need to get an updated coating.

Me? Never go near the stuff myself. Keep all the drainage holes open, make sure that scratches and chips are addressed before winter if possible, use car washes with underbody spray and polishes (or do the job manually at the local carwash).

Only the Fords rusted through. Haven't owned a Volvo long enough to see the rust start.
