V40 Fuel Filter

I want to replace the fuel filter on my 2003 V40. No problem locating it and removing the inlet fuel line. There are buttons on either side of the fuel line connector where it attaches to the filter, depress them and the line pops right off. The outlet side is different, it has a plastic sleeze that locks on to the neck of the filter. The sleeve in turn locks the filter to the fuel line connector. Its similar to what is used on my Jeep, usually finger pressure or needle-nose pliers can squeeze the sleeve and release it from the fuel line. No luck with this one. I tried but I don't want to damage the filter or the sleeve. I have 49K miles on the car, I know the fuel filter isn't due until 105K. But I picked one up and it can't hurt to replace it; I just replaced the spark plugs and I want to stay ahead of the curve so to speak. Thanks in advance.
