Volvo V70: Electric window will go down but not up. Please help, it's about to rain!

My battery died yesterday after leaving the parking lights on too long. I used my other car to jump start it and everything was running fine. Today, I take a drive to the store and lowered my driver's side window a little to let some fresh air in. When I tried to "roll" it back up...nothing. Rolled it down a little more...fine. Up...nothing. So now, I'm stuck with my car with an exposed window and it's supposed to rain pretty hard tonight. Any clues? Thanks

I have read quite a few cases like this, this may caused by the cell phone you are carrying. So leave it somewhere else.

Otherwise, keep trying or go to a volvo dealer, they will help you.

Good luck !

Two incidents may not be connected. Window failure may be window drive or switch failure, and if other windows work normally, then it isn't a fuse. To get it back up temporarily: ignition on, window raise switch actuated (get a friend to help), grab window on both sides in middle of pane with bare hands and move it up. This should work even if the the problem is the sender switch.

This may have arrived too late to help :-(

An earlier post from 'Carol' said Volvo claimed magnetic interference could cause this, such as from mobile (cell) phone towers or telephone exchanges. Hard to believe. High voltage lines generate much more intense magnetic fields, and, despite popular superstition, have no effect on anything.

Your computer needs to be reset. Someone in this group had the same problem a couple months ago. The dealer updated the software on their computer and reset it. There is a way to reset the computer yourself, but I don't remember it.

It is said that jump start is dangerous for today's cars. I tend to believe that jump start has mixed or damaged some of your Volvo's electronics. Somebody here suggested to reset your car's computer. Try that, but I don't know how, may be you need to see your mechanic.
