Wax Residue

I recently applied a polish to my Volvo XC90, and in the process hit some of the black plastic trim pieces --- and where I hit has dried to a white mark that won't wash off. Any ideas about what will remove this wax/polish residue on the black plastic trim?

search the 'net for an auto detailing forum... I read on a website that Mineral Spirits will work. Also saw this on the "Nu Finish" website's FAQ

Some auto detailers use that blue colored 'low stick' painter's tape to mask those areas for just that reason.
