'05 Remote just died

Hello All, My remote key for my 2005 Golf just died suddenly... kind of.

The "Lock" and "Unlock Trunk" button still work but the "Unlock Doors" doesn't work.

The manual states something about synchronization being lost. But I tried the re-programming steps mentioned in the manual with no success.

Does my remote need programming? Or is my remote broken? New batteries? (The car can be locked from over 25 feet away, so I suspect the batteries are still good).

Could it be something else?

Any ideas are welcome. Not looking forward to driving to the dealership on Saturday morning, paying $$ for a (hopefully) minor fix! (I suspect the remote is not covered in the warranty ???)

Thanks,

-tomas

Didn't you get two remotes with the car? Did they both fail?

Should not cost you anything, new remote, new battery, reprogramming should all be on the house. Just be sure to bring both remotes.

BTW, the other remote is working fine. Technology, go figure!

Try a new battery before spending too much money. You can usually buy one for a dollar or two and put it in your remote yourself.

If the keys are still the same as for my '02 Passat, here's how:

It's warranty unless you dropped the FOB into water or something. Or... there maybe other issues within the cars system.

That was it !!

I'd never noticed the tiny red light on the remote. The wife's remote blinked, mine didn't.

New battery, and all is good.

Thanks!
