hope you didn't disassemble yours as it is extremely hard to find parts for one! (they are non serviceable) I think ONE person on this newsgroup successfully found the right o-rings and rebuilt his fuel distributor... he is the only person I know of that has successfully done so. DO NOT disassemble this unit!!! If you already have... I am sorry... Good luck... they are about $500 to replace.

It is not magic, and is doable. Some points to keep in mind:

- assembly is reversal of removal ;-) just observe (and record) where bits and pieces came from and in what orientation

- oil the o-rings before assembly, or you will shred them. The ones that would most likely shred without lubrication, the ones around the metering slits, you can replace with similar size, it is not that critical

- use a thin coat of non-curing gasket paste on the steel diaphragm, or it will weep

The first unit I cleaned in my '79 Scirocco, I assembled it three times, first the o-ring, then the weeping, the second unit worked on the first assembly.
