Hi,
I have a 1.8T 2001 Jetta - coils have been replaced as per the recall. Since the weather has been cold in Alberta, the car starts fine.
However, when I pick the mail up on way home, I then restart it for the short run back to the garage, it is reluctant to turn over (4-5 second delay) despite engine being warm and it then idles at 2100 with lots of smoke coming throught the tailpipe. On the first attempt, it looked like oily water - could it be vapour in the gas. After car has been parked a while, the idle revs on restart are back to rormal 750 RPM.
Am reluctant to take it in for repair as it will be another bunch of cash to quickly check $87 labour per hour + tax!
BTW, Check engine light is on again - the turbo valve and coils were replaced for $150 by dealer and the light soon came on again! Engine has 38K on clock.
Rick
