2001 Passat 1.8T Maintenance Hierarchy/Priority

I have a 2001 Passat 1.8T manual transmission with about 95K miles.

I do an oil change every 5K miles, did the plugs at 60K, put a new battery in at 80K, and recently replaced the air and pollen filters. I know the timing belt is recommended to be replaced at 105K.

What other things should I be looking at, and which are the most important? How would you rank these in terms of priority/urgency for a car of this age:

Brake fluid replacement Radiator fluid replacement Power steering fluid Transmission fluid Anything else?

Thanks.

Brake fluid replacement- every 2 years Radiator fluid replacement- although "lifetime" I would do 50,000miles Power steering fluid-couldn't hurt if it's all discolored Transmission fluid-lifetime too but 50,000miles can't hurt

top of the list is the timingbelt, rollers, waterpump

Thanks Woodchuck. A follow up:

What is the recommended interval on the waterpump? Or, when have most waterpumps failed in this generation of VW's?

What color should power steering fluid be?

Rollers are done with the timing belt, right?

Found the brake fluid answer on the search, but still wondering when to expect the water pump to die...and whether I should think about pre- emptively replacing it.

Replace the waterpump at the same time as the timing belt - it is the same labor to do both. I don't recall if the waterpump on your model is actually driven by the timing belt - if it is it is especially important to replace it as failure can snap the timing belt causing extensive damage to the engine.

Yep. Water pumps can last anywhere from 20,000 miles to well over

100,000miles. It's just how lucky you are.

Timing belt ASAP

They are known to fail at as little as 65K miles, resulting in major engine damage.

Run, do not walk, to your local indy mechanic on this one
